Brightness & Contrast Description

Enhance image quality by adjusting brightness and contrast levels for post-processing workflows, highlighting details and improving dynamic range.

Brightness & Contrast:

The JDC_Contrast node is designed to enhance the visual quality of your images by adjusting their brightness and contrast levels. This node is particularly useful in post-processing workflows where you want to fine-tune the appearance of an image to make it more visually appealing or to highlight specific details. By manipulating the contrast, you can make the dark areas darker and the light areas lighter, thereby increasing the overall dynamic range of the image. Adjusting the brightness allows you to make the image lighter or darker as a whole. This node is essential for AI artists who want to add a professional touch to their images, ensuring that the final output meets their artistic vision.

Brightness & Contrast Input Parameters:

IMAGE

This parameter accepts the image that you want to process. The image should be in a compatible format that the node can handle. This is the primary input on which the brightness and contrast adjustments will be applied.

contrast

This parameter controls the contrast level of the image. The contrast adjustment makes the dark areas darker and the light areas lighter, enhancing the overall dynamic range. The value is a float and can range from 0 to 10, with a default value of 1. A value of 1 means no change, values less than 1 decrease the contrast, and values greater than 1 increase the contrast.

brightness

This parameter controls the brightness level of the image. Adjusting the brightness makes the entire image lighter or darker. The value is a float and can range from 0 to 10, with a default value of 1. A value of 1 means no change, values less than 1 make the image darker, and values greater than 1 make the image lighter.

Brightness & Contrast Output Parameters:

IMAGE

The output is the processed image with the applied brightness and contrast adjustments. This image will reflect the changes made based on the input parameters, providing a visually enhanced version of the original image.

Brightness & Contrast Usage Tips:

  • To achieve a balanced enhancement, start with small adjustments to the contrast and brightness parameters and gradually increase them until you achieve the desired effect.
  • Use higher contrast values to make details in the image stand out more, which can be particularly useful for images with a lot of texture or intricate patterns.
  • Adjust the brightness parameter to correct images that are too dark or too light, ensuring that the overall exposure is appropriate for the scene.

Brightness & Contrast Common Errors and Solutions:

Image format not supported

  • Explanation: The input image is in a format that the node cannot process.
  • Solution: Convert the image to a compatible format such as JPEG or PNG before using the node.

Contrast or brightness value out of range

  • Explanation: The contrast or brightness value provided is outside the acceptable range of 0 to 10.
  • Solution: Ensure that the values for contrast and brightness are within the specified range of 0 to 10.

Image processing failed

  • Explanation: An unexpected error occurred during the image processing.
  • Solution: Check the input image for any corruption or issues and try again. If the problem persists, consider restarting the application or checking for updates.
