≺ Fade From Black Description

Smoothly transition video from black screen with creative control over fade duration for professional scene introductions.

Fade From Black [DVB]:

The Fade From Black [DVB] node is designed to create a smooth transition effect where a video sequence gradually becomes visible from a black screen. This effect is commonly used in video editing to introduce scenes in a subtle and visually appealing manner. By adjusting the duration of the fade, you can control how quickly or slowly the scene emerges from black, allowing for creative flexibility in your video projects. This node is particularly useful for setting the tone at the beginning of a video or transitioning between scenes in a way that feels natural and professional.

Fade From Black [DVB] Input Parameters:

frames

This parameter represents the set of frames that will undergo the fade from black effect. It is essential as it provides the visual content that will be transitioned into view. The frames should be in the format of a FrameSet, which is a collection of images that make up the video sequence.

fade_seconds

This parameter determines the duration of the fade effect in seconds. It controls how long it takes for the video to transition from black to full visibility. The default value is 1.0 seconds, with a minimum value of 0.1 seconds. You can adjust this value in increments of 0.1 seconds to achieve the desired fade duration. A longer fade duration results in a slower transition, while a shorter duration creates a quicker fade-in effect.

Fade From Black [DVB] Output Parameters:

frames

The output parameter is a FrameSet that contains the frames after the fade from black effect has been applied. This FrameSet will have the same frame rate and indices as the input frames, but the initial frames will gradually increase in brightness from black to their original state, creating the fade-in effect.

Fade From Black [DVB] Usage Tips:

  • To create a dramatic introduction to your video, use a longer fade_seconds value to allow the scene to slowly emerge from black.
  • For quick transitions between scenes, use a shorter fade_seconds value to keep the pace of your video dynamic and engaging.
  • Combine the Fade From Black [DVB] node with other transition nodes, such as Fade To Black [DVB], to create seamless transitions between different parts of your video.

Fade From Black [DVB] Common Errors and Solutions:

Frame sets must not contain gaps!

  • Explanation: This error occurs if the input FrameSet contains gaps in the frame indices.
  • Solution: Ensure that your FrameSet does not have any missing frames before applying the fade effect. You may need to preprocess your frames to fill any gaps.

Frame sets must have the same frame rate!

  • Explanation: This error is raised if the input FrameSet has a different frame rate than expected.
  • Solution: Verify that the frame rate of your FrameSet matches the expected frame rate. Adjust the frame rate if necessary to ensure consistency.

Frame sets must have the same image dimensions!

  • Explanation: This error occurs if the input FrameSet has frames with varying dimensions.
  • Solution: Make sure all frames in your FrameSet have the same dimensions. Resize or crop frames as needed to maintain uniformity.
